Grace Leutele • Fastpitch Instructor

After graduating from Buena High School in 2002, I attended the University of Michigan on a full-ride scholarship for softball. I took more than a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Communications away with me upon graduation; I took away friendships that will last a lifetime, philosophies to live by, an education that prepared me professionally, and most importantly, I took away the belief that dreams do come true. I didn’t realize how much tradition was embedded in a program like Michigan’s until after winning a National Championship in 2005. The Alumni for softball, as well as from every sport or academic field, flooded our coach’s inbox with good luck wishes soon to be followed by congratulations.

During my athletic career at Michigan I achieved the following:

  • 2005 National Championship team 3rd Baseman
  • 2005, 2006 Academic All Big Ten
  • 2005, 2006 U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award
  • 2004, 2005 1st Team All Big Ten Selection at 3B
  • 2006 2nd Team All Big Ten Selection at 3B,
  • 2004, 2005 Region All Tournament Team Selection at 3B
  • 2005 Super Regional All Tournament Team Selection at 3B
  • 2005 Donald Sheppard Scholarship Recipient
  • 2006 Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor Award Recipient
  • Named team co-captain of the 2006 squad

Upon Graduation

  • Tied for second all-time at U-M in home runs (30)
  • 10th all-time at U-M in career RBI (127)
  • 10th all-time at U-M in career starts (235)
  • 10th all-time at U-M in career games played (243)
